Tide purclean Honey and lavenderBeing a mom comes with many teaching and learning moments, like how to get my kids to help with laundry and why I have to choose a plant-based laundry detergent like Tide purclean. My kids are getting older so I’m finding more changes that I need to make. For one thing, they have started learning how to help out with more chores.

They’re not at the proper age to do certain chores like their own laundry, but at the same they are able to do many steps of the process. Here are five ways to get your kids to help with laundry while turning it into fun teaching moments.

Challenge them to find the
laundry detergent in store!

Tide purclean Honey and lavenderIt’s entertaining that they turn everything into a contest on who can find it first. Sometimes I’ll purposely walk slower in the laundry aisle, and they’ll point me to the right spot! As a mom with sensitive skin children, I go out of my way to use plant-based products for anything that touches their skin for long periods of time. With clothes, that’s 24/7!

If your family’s needs are like mine… you don’t have to look anymore! Tide purclean can be found in-store at Target and it’s available in Honey Lavender and Unscented. Don’t forget to use the Cartwheel offer for a discount!

Invite the kids to bring their
hampers to the laundry room.

Tide purclean Honey and lavenderSometimes as a parent, I want to do everything fast but as I’m getting the hang of this parenting thing… I’ve learned that taking it slow is much more rewarding. Even though it takes them longer to move their hamper full of clothes downstairs to the laundry room, they’re learning that this is part of getting clothes clean!

 Ask them simple questions
about laundry basics.

Tide purclean Honey and lavenderI play a little game of questionnaire to see who knows what! I’ll ask them questions like do we separate colors and whites? Should we use warm or cold water with this load? have you checked all your pockets yet to make sure nothing is in there?

They know mommy loves to watch movies while folding clothes. I have multiple kids, so whoever gets the most answers correct can pick the movie as they are movie lovers as well! If you have one child, it can simply be a reward system for participating!

Tide purclean Honey and lavenderKids are also naturally curious, they’ll often read the bottle and ask me questions. I explain that we choose natural laundry detergent because of their sensitive skin. They all have variations of eczema from mild to pretty uncomfortable and that’s why mom always picks the best laundry detergent for sensitive skin!

Plant-based products contain ingredients from plant, marine, forestry and other agricultural sources. It provides a renewable alternative to petroleum-based ingredients. Did you know that Tide purclean is produced at a facility that uses 100% renewable wind electricity? Even better that there is zero manufacturing waste to landfill!

Tide purclean Honey and lavenderDon’t forget to ask them the most important question like how much soap to pour? Tide purclean is HE-compatible so we make sure to use only a little bit!

Tide purclean is the first plant-based detergent that has the same cleaning power of Tide. I’m so glad we don’t have to compromise cleanliness in our detergent when opting for a plant-based alternative! It’s also free of dyes, chlorine, phosphates, ethanol amine and optical brighteners. It’s perfect for our needs. Tide purclean is 70% plant-based and certified by the USDA BioPreferred program.

Let the kids “help” fold laundry with
you while the movie is on.

My kids, even my oldest still can’t properly fold clothes themselves, but it’s really nice to know that they’re eager to help. Also, by having them watch a movie while they fold is another way to teach them that even doing a chore can be relaxing and enjoyable. This is true, because I actually love folding laundry!

Let them be the ones to put their clean,
folded laundry back into their closet.

Tide purclean Honey and lavenderThis is kind of nice. Actually, it’s really nice! Even my five year old has learned to put her own clothes away in her closet. Of course, mommy will do all the hanging for my youngest, but simple stuff like putting away pajamas, house clothes, undergarments and socks are easy for her to learn. You may need to check their closet afterwards, but letting them grow in their own pace is key, mistakes and all!

Tide purclean Honey and lavenderThe Honey Lavender has such a nice and subtle scent that isn’t overpowering. This is especially great if you want a little scent, but don’t want to aggravate any eczema. I really love the scent on this one, It definitely makes our clothes smell so fresh after washing.

Chores can be fun and enjoyable depending on how we choose to look at it. I want my kids to grow up thinking that it is a natural part of life and there is joy in the process. It’s rewarding to know that they can do something, and my kids especially felt proud that they’ve learned to fold!

Make it a teaching moment, but make it enjoyable! Don’t forget to buy Tide purclean in-store using your Cartwheel app for a discount until mid-September! Thank you for visiting my blog and until next time!

I just started giving my son chores to do and one of them is to help with the laundry. Unfortunately I don’t even know when to use warm or cold water though. LOL! I usually just wash everything in cold to be on the safe side. It’s awesome that your kids like to help you out around the house.

Thank you for the great tips! I have found that over the years the kids tend to help , I don’t do pocket money so I don’t pay for chores but I give fines (so they pay me) if things like folding your own clothes are not done … so far so good!

My son washes his own clothes and my daughter is starting to! I started washing my own clothes when I was 9 or 10. Great post!
