Camping always makes our family happy! Getting in tune with the nature and new surroundings as well as the family bonding rejuvenates us in ways that I can’t explain. Life with kids can be really busy and at times difficult to escape from day to day life, but when we do… we go camping. Like this time, it’s middle of winter and we were itching to go!

KOA campgrounds are always really fun because each of them are so different and we enjoy seeing the different layouts and amenities of each KOA. We visited the Astoria KOA Resort in Oregon this time around and I was really amazed at what we found!

Our Spot

Our spot was number 208 and it was the deluxe pull through. My husband and I really liked this spot as it was really easy to park the travel trailer. It was very roomy and there aren’t any trees around that could make it really difficult. It was definitely a breeze and trust me, we’ve had troubles before with tight spots! There is a paved area as well along with a grill, campfire, patio set, and this cute swing!

This swing is my favorite part of the spot. It’s so cute and definitely fits within the camping theme, right? I want one in our home! There is also a bench next to it to ensure enough space for all the family.

Amenities & Activities

When we visited this KOA, I didn’t realize that there is a mini golf! I was so excited for the kids and they had so much fun. The mini golf field was pretty large and it took them a good amount of time to finish their game. I loved that this taught them motor skills and patience!

There are various golf club sizes for big and small kids alike! My youngest of course had to choose the smallest size and it was perfect for her.

There is also a small playground for kids to play in. The boat structure is so adorable!

The map that they gave us made it pretty easy to find everything in this resort. One of the plus of staying in a big KOA like this is that we can go around and around riding our bikes with the kids. My oldest girl is ten years old and I really liked that she can ride her bike safely. I also love that there are signs here that say, “Drive like your kids live here” YES!

If you didn’t bring your bikes, don’t worry! There are different kinds of bikes available here that you can use. There are many other fun activities here as well like the giant chess and checkers, outdoor swimming pool, indoor swimming pool, bounce pillow, game room, and more… like the big foot room!

Big Foot Room

When it’s raining or extra cold like this day, the Big Foot Room is where you’ll want to be as well. If you have younger kids, this is perfect for them. My kids are ten and under and they had great fun here. There are many activities like basketball, bean bag toss, watch a movie, coloring, and more!

The bean bag toss is such a fun activity for all ages. Isn’t the art on this so cute? Look at Mimi trying to toss her bean bag!

I was so happy they brought this out because Mimi LOVES seashells. This build your own bottle was so fun for all the kids. There were so many colored seashells here and they could bring it home when they’re done!

The KOA is such a fun place to visit especially when you see your friends there. My friend Ashley from Mommy On The Mound stayed at the deluxe cabin which is SO seriously nice. When I visited her cabin, I was so impressed I had to take pics for future stays, haha. Also, isn’t it pretty cool we both have three kids? Three is the magic number! The big foot room is perfect for those days when it ends up being super cold or raining. I love how Astoria KOA thought of everything!

By the way, if you’re wondering about a place that you can visit nearby the Astoria KOA… I’ve got a spot for you! This beach is where you can find the Peter Iredale Shipwreck along the coast.

There’s a history here and I was very interested in learning about the Peter Iredale after visiting here. There’s always a history lesson everywhere we go, and being a history brat… I loved learning about this area. Peter Iredale was a ship that was on its way to Columbia river. It was wrecked and abandoned in 1906 due to the weather. Isn’t that crazy? A hundred or so years has passed and the history is literally embedded in the sands. No really, that’s the reason why it’s still there because they tried to tow it back but the weather was never in favor for it to happen!

We loved our weekend stay here and the kids had a very fun time. They did so many activities here and I especially loved the indoor swimming pool. This is definitely awesome because guests can swim year round. During this cold winter, I sure appreciated thay my kids can swim and be warm! Super mom win over here.
