What should be comforting, yet organized at the same? What about a room that produces a welcoming feeling to not only your family, but for your guests as well? It takes me a while to decide on how to furnish and decorate the rooms of my home, but I believe the length of time that pass teaches patience. Patience usually has its rewards and I am very happy to say that our living room is finally finished.
Everything about this room speaks my character and shows who I am. I have always loved the color green, but I do love shades of subtlety. In this post, you will see furnitures that mimics an old soul, which does what it is suppose to, but has another use to it.

THE COFFEE TABLE
I will share something about me that makes no sense. I love coffee, but I have never cared about coffee table. I could never find the right one for its use alone. That’s probably why this room stands empty of it for a few years. MyGift has this one that is so beautiful. Its color is like a torched wood, paired with industrial pipes for the stand. It gives a rustic look that puts itself in the farmhouse style.
Now, this farmhouse coffee table is very lightweight. On the sides, it has round markings to show you where to install the legs of the table and such. You will need to use a leveled floor or even better, a second person to help to make sure it’s all leveled when it’s finished. I will tell you, though, that I put this together by myself, and I don’t consider myself handy so it is definitely doable without a partner.
It has a second layer to use as a drawer. This is something I love and appreciate. I have used it for my laptop and iPad, but I’m sure it can be used to store more such as coasters if you prefer it not to be on top of the table. Something else that I really like about this coffee table is the height is absolutely perfect. There is enough space for my legs to use as a floor work station.
Simple way to style this beautiful table is to use a small serving tray like this one. Then, place small potted plants such as these mini succulent plants to give some color. There are many other styles of serving trays such as these, but I think the whitewashed wood pairs beautifully with the torched wood of this coffee table.
THE SIDE TABLES
Previously to this very unique and enchanting side table… I just had white round nesting tables that I thought I would’ve loved. I didn’t. You can see it here in this video when I first moved in this house.
This side table is actually a Vintage Side Table With Magazine Holder. Many uses for it without the table looking like a pile of mess. The top can be decorated with these mesmerizing lavender plants and other items you have at the moment. The little area below it is the perfect place to store your remote control. In front of the table has a tiny boxy storage area which can also be used for another remote control if you have it, or to put your phone when you’re in the room.
Below would be the magazine holder. I don’t read any magazines, so this is a perfect place to put our devotionals or study bible workbooks. You can’t see it here, but the book in the front is such a nice one. I’ve written reflections in my journaling tab that you can read here titled, “I Do Hard Things“.
Ah, finally the other side table that is actually a shelving that is in crate style. This one is called Rustic Gray Wood Crate Style Shelf and I am using it to organize my must needed items for me and my family. In this one alone, you can tell that I love candles, books, bunnies, and I honestly despise trash and wrappers all over the place.
I also don’t really like the look of a trash can just being, out. This shelving is perfect for all these things. This whitewashed wastebasket is so beautiful for it being a trash can, right?
Besides the decorations, I really like storing the books I’m reading currently here. It serves a bigger purpose and reminds me especially to take a moment, pick up a good book, and slow down. Nourish my mind with good words and rest.
Lastly, this tissue box holder is nicely made. It’s a square shape that perfectly stores the square kleenex tissue boxes. On the bottom though, it is not bare. It actually has bottom part where it slides on to insert or take out your tissue box.
THE FIREPLACE
The fireplace area is nice, but dark. With the deep gray and black colors can sometimes make an area seem a bit too weary. That’s when we should find items that can beautifully contrast to create pops of light.
On the left side, I used my small white table that was the “nesting tables” from earlier to store my essential oil diffuser and the essential oils. Add a little comfort by placing throw pillows beside it. If you have kids, trust me, those will be used. I have a couch in this room obviously, but they also love laying on the floor with their blankets.
On the right side, find a white crate like this. What’s even better is that this whitewashed storage crate comes in a set of two. This one is the large size, and if you quickly scroll up a bit, you’ll see the small size act as a raiser for my small lantern.
Find a rounded ceramic vase and place your favorite stems inside it. If you are adding a green wreath like I did, it’s probably better to keep those stems in natural colors. I found all these other items at Hobby Lobby. The brown basket, the family throw pillow, the rabbit, and the wreathe.
THE CORNER
Corners can be used and with a purpose. You’ll see here that I have a piano right next to my windows. If you follow my instagram or youtube or even maybe my previous posts, you’ll catch glimpses of my dark black hole of a window in my daily snapshots. I finally put up curtains. I cannot believe how much this changed my living room.
I opted for a light color like these beige linen curtains that I paired with sheer curtains for the middle of the windows to filter some sunlight in. In a photo above, you will see that I chose a black curtain rod since I have this dark piano and the industrial pipe parts of the coffee table. Dark colors does not mean all doom and gloom, but in small amounts, it does add an elegance.
I have three children, and apparently they need their own stuff when we are watching movies in this room. It’s nice to have for the guests also, so they can choose to warm themselves up with these if need be. Doesn’t blankets provide some security feeling whenever you use it? That’s how I feel anyway.
I am in love with this blanket ladder. I have another one in gray for my bathroom that is used as a towel rack. This one, though, is perfection for this room. I found some great and affordable throw blankets from amazon such as this beige throw blanket and this black throw blanket.
Now that we finally made it to the end of this post, let me know what you think in the comments below. Is there one item that caught your eye?
