Man, today is such a nice day. There was a lot on my list of things to do today, but along the lines of importance and how much we can get caught up with the things in life… it was a no brainer. After lunch, I asked the kids to come with me for a mile walk outside!
At least one time a week, I give myself a break with cooking so I can catch up with all the must do’s. I love stopping by Safeway to get their chicken dinner family deal and chicken tenders. Man, they’re so good and the kids love it! Since I didn’t have to worry about dinner today, we enjoyed our time outside!
I have to tell you, it is nice to just spend actual time with the kids without any distractions. It’s even more amazing to ENJOY actual time with them without feeling like I need to do something else or else my life is wrecked, lol. Sometimes it feels so dire trying to check off things to do.
Sometimes we do have to relax. Sometimes we have to let go of things a little. If I didn’t have tomorrow, would I be happy knowing my last day alive just trying to do things on my list?
Or would I be happy knowing that I spent it some quality time with the kids? I would say the latter. I know that these things to do will be there when I get back, but it’s nice to take a little breath of fresh air and rejuvenate.
Relaxing my mind and just being thankful for the life that God has given me.
I think this humility of knowing about time can change a lot about ourselves. We are quick to forgive and we operate out of love more often. We start to choose kind words instead of hatred because we would know how to love people. We would understand that people deserve love no matter what. Time is bound to us, so we should spend it spreading love.
You know that saying? People will not remember how much money you make, what degrees you have, or what riches you own… but they will remember how you will make them feel. They will remember the love you showed or the lack of it in your lifetime. Isn’t that just amazing and also convicting at the same time?
Lately, my audio bible plans have been reminding me of a lot of things. The book of Luke shares many many things that Jesus has said. Parables that make you think and decipher for yourself. Jesus can literally say things as is, but be honest, sometimes people don’t want to hear it. They don’t like being told what to do. That’s why Jesus is such a great teacher. He gives you parables and you decide for yourself.
We don’t take anything to heaven but literally ourselves.
That gives a huge thought of how you want to live your life.
Will we keep all that God has given us only for ourselves? or use it as a tool to spread the Word?
Will we be too busy striving for fame or riches? or learning how to live life by leaving your footprints of kindness, wisdom, and love?
I would like my kids to know that I take my time to spend it with them even it’s just a couple hours. It would be kind of sad if they thought of me as too much a busy mom. Even fifteen or thirty minutes reading a devotional and talking about it is something they will remember forever. It might just be something they will do with their own kids.
Don’t you love that? So friends, if you’re a parent like me and you feel so overwhelmed with things… just drop whatever you’re doing and take the kids outside for a walk. You never know, you might meet a cute dog!
This was a screenshot from a little video clip I took. Lol, this dog is funny. That house that you see up the hill is actually like a little farm. They have so many goats and we saw them relaxing under a tree in the shade. I think those goats knew the importance of relaxing, too, huh?! Haha.
On the way back, the kids took their chalks and drew things on the driveway. I think Ezekiel wrote “Hi” in so many places, too. LOL, I think the delivery people would love that.
After our time outside, I actually was even able to finish editing my video and even uploaded it to our family YouTube. Planned for tomorow’s filming, washed our bedsheets, and now I’m blogging about our day! There’s a few things left, but I decided I’m just going to enjoy more of my Wednesday updating my blog and sharing this little nugget for today.
Well that’s it for today, friends! I hope you found some solace in today’s topic. Enjoy your Wednesday or any other day you choose to be your enjoyable day… even if it’s just an hour or two. Love your life and enjoy it. Be thankful of all the little things in life. Most of all, share it with God. He loves to hear from you. With that said, I love you and hope you will have a beautiful day!
