What A Beautiful Name It Is

We all worship in many different ways, and if I can say it this way… my worship language is with song and writing. I have been greatly tuned to this specific song in this time of my life. It’s been on replay on my iTunes, when I surf YouTube, and if I’m lucky, the radio. There is a great sense of peace when I hear this song… it is like my heart is instantly warmed and open. Sometimes when I sing along, God’s presence is so strong that the lyrics escapes me. The song that’s been played thousands of times and its words has literally been running through my veins and remembered by the breath in my lungs just disappears. It probably doesn’t make sense, but it just turns to a bunch of words that I can’t even understand. Although I keep on singing, and I keep on praising because I know God knows me fully.

There is one line in the song that hits me every time. “Your hidden glory in creation”. It is really kind of amazing how this lyric is so simple, yet mind boggling. It even explains our human nature to doubt. His glory is evident everywhere and we see it with our own two eyes, but it is still considered hidden. Hidden because of our lack of faith which leads to our lack of relationship with Him. Sometimes I want to say that even though our eyes are open, it is closed in so many ways.

I have this painting in our room and it is of God’s creation. We actually picked this up from Ikea and have had this for about five years now. There are Hills, Stillwaters, and light. There are colors of blue, purple, orange, yellow, and also shades of darkness. The sun is rising or it could even be the sun setting to allow the stars to guide us through the night. When I look into this painting, it just reminds me that God is here. He is evident in nature. He is visible and clear in all the creation. Nothing this beautiful could ever come out of nothing or by chance. This clearly tells the story of God’s power and beautiful spirit. Not only that, I love that the painting included dark shades to show that even in our darkest days, God’s light is still shining somewhere. All we have to do is let our eyes open.

After a while of putting this song on repeat, I start to notice there are three words to describe God’s name. Beautiful. I know God is beautiful and I am in awe of who He is. He is of beauty and light. He creates beauty and light. Wonderful. Looking back in the years during the infancy of my faith until now, He has always been true and faithful to His promises. Powerful. This is the perfect word to describe Him after witnessing the miracles and answered prayers in our life. It was like the threads of the events in my life were carefully chosen and sewn to produce the perfect garment.

This song is my worship song. It gives me chills each time I hear it, but warm chills. My husband and I were talking the other day on what we think it feels like to be overcome with the Holy Spirit. We somehow agreed on our personal relationship with Jesus that it feels like goosebumps and chills, but the good kind. It feels warm and like a waterfall running throughout my body. It also feels like my heart expands outwards reaching for God.

God is everywhere. He is beside us. I feel Him. You know you feel Him. Let’s acknowledge our God and thank Him for his many wonderful creations.

I am so blessed to know You, Father. I am blessed that You have loved me and continue to love me. I see You everywhere. You’re in every miracle that my eyes witness. You are Beautiful. Wonderful. Powerful, and I thank You for all that You are.

This post is in reflections of my favorite song by Hillsong United called What A Beautiful Name It is.
